Reed Diamond (Franklin & Bash) has landed a role in Underground, WGN America’s pre-Civil War straight-to-series drama about the Underground Railroad. The series from Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a Georgia plantation to cross 600 miles to freedom. They are aided along the way by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad, as they evade those tasked with bringing them back — dead or alive. Diamond plays Tom Macon, the affable owner of a very large and successful Georgia plantation and a loving family man. Tom’s Southern accent is a little too theatrical because he isn’t even from the South; he’s from Ohio and married into his cotton kingdom, but his ambitions don’t end there: Tom is also running for the U.S. Senate. Diamond’s recent credits include Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Mentalist and Bones, and he next co-stars in Fox’s Wayward Pines. He is repped by Paradigm and David Weise and Associates.
Jake Weber (Hell On Wheels) has joined the Season 2 cast of FX’s Tyrant. The series revolves around an unassuming American family drawn into the inner workings of a turbulent fictional Middle Eastern nation. Bassam “Barry” Al-Fayeed, the younger son of the war-torn country’s dictator, ends a self-imposed 20-year exile to return to his homeland. His reluctant homecoming leads to a dramatic clash of cultures as he is thrown back into the familial and national politics of his youth. Weber plays Jimmy Stone, the new love interest for Molly Al-Fayeed (Jennifer Finnigan). Repped by Paradigm and Framework Entertainment, his recent credits include The Following and features Learning To Drive and White House Down.
