Hoodlum, the production company behind ABC’s Secrets & Lies, has signed a first-look producer pod deal at ITV Studios America for scripted series in the U.S. As part of the pact, it the Australia-based company will also operate out of ITV Studios America’s Los Angeles offices.
“As our scripted content and production business continues to grow, we want to partner with the best storytellers from around the world to bring their ideas to an American audience,” ITV Studios America president Orly Adelson. “Hoodlum has a wide range of international experience with impressive accomplishments already in Australia, the UK and the U.S. and we are excited to continue building on that great work with Tracey, Nathan and the team here in America.”
Hoodlum, founded in 1999 by Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield already has scripted series Secrets & Lies on the air in the U.S. — it has seen solid Live+3 ratings and is a good candidate to be renewed — and they have the single-camera comedy pilot Strange Calls set at NBC this season. Its other scripted fare includes Aussie series Slide and Fat Cow Motel.
It’s the latest move into scripted for ITV Studios America, which in February hired Lucienne Papon as SVP Scripted Television. The indie producer already has U.S. unscripted hits like Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, The First 48 and #RichKids Of Beverly Hills, and its push on the scripted side includes the NBC Charles Manson event series Aquarius with David Duchovny and History’s Texas Rising.
Hoodlum is repped by ICM Partners.
