Neil LaBute’s latest feature film teams him with fellow Broadway regular Matthew Broderick and Alice Eve in Dirty Weekend, the indie comedy world premiering Sunday in the Feature Narrative lineup at the Tribeca Film Festival. In the pic, set in Albuquerque, work colleagues Les and Natalie discover more about each other than they ever thought possible. Anxious and irritable, Les is drawn back into the city by past experiences he can’t forget (even if he doesn’t really remember the particulars of his previous drunken adventure). Natalie, refusing to leave his side, follows along as her own secrets are slowly revealed, leaving her feeling both vulnerable and unbound.
LaBute’s pics always stir the pot — from The Shape Of Things to Wicker Man — and lately he has been dipping his toe into TV, directing some Hell On Wheels episodes. ICM Partners has this one for sale at the fest, which opens Thursday.
