USA Network is looking to turn its breakout reality series Chrisley Knows Best into a franchise with a potential spinoff and a late-night talk show. The cable network has given pilot commitments to a late-night talk show hosted by family patriarch Todd Chrisley and produced by Embassy Row, the company behind Watch What Happens Live and Talking Dead, and a Chrisley Knows Best spinoff. The network would not specify who would be featured in the spinoff, saying only that it would be built “around the Chrisley family.” Original series’ producer Maverick TV is producing.
In expanding Chrisley Knows Best, USA is taking a page from the playbook of sibling E!, which has launched multiple spinoffs from Keeping Up With The Kardashians featuring the Kardashian sisters.
“Fans can’t get enough of the Chrisleys, and we’re excited to give viewers an even bigger dose of this entertaining, unpredictable and lovable family,” said Jackie de Crinis, USA EVP Original Programming. “Giving Todd an opportunity to bring his unique voice and unfiltered personality to late night is an opportunity we didn’t want to miss.”
USA Network Sets Development Slate, Summer Premiere Dates
A Todd Chrisley talker would mark USA’s first foray into late-night programming. The network’s cable siblings E! and Bravo both have successfully launched late-night talk shows with Chelsea Lately and Watch What Happens Live.
Chrisley Knows Best follows the lives of Atlanta-based outspoken husband and father Todd Chrisley and his clan, including his wife Julie and their expansive brood.
Season 2 logged double-digit growth over Season 1, averaging 1.24 million adults 18-49 (+31 % vs. S1) and 2.32 million total viewers P2+ (+37% vs. S1) week-to-week per episode. The series’ third season premieres June 2.
Chrisley Knows Best is produced by Maverick TV and All3Media America, with Adam Greener, Stephanie Bloch Chambers, Marilyn Wilson, Jen Perry Leamy, Jim Sayer, Eli Holzman and Stephen Lambert serving as executive producers.
