EXCLUSIVE: APA has signed musician, producer and director Tom DeLonge and his new transmedia company To The Stars… . DeLonge is best known as co-founder, singer and guitarist for the platinum rock acts Blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves. While on that track, DeLonge began taking creative control over his music and related visual accompaniments and he began producing, writing and directing music videos and documentaries. As the music business declined, he became increasingly focused on creating art that crossed traditional boundaries into multiple platforms that would cross-promote each other and enhance the fan experience. He formed Angels & Airwaves and To The Stars… to facilitate that.

That led him to produce Love, a sci-fi feature that was released in conjunction with the Angels & Airwaves studio album. The film screened worldwide at festivals. DeLonge most recently produced, co-wrote and co-directed the animated short Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker, which won Best Animated Film at the 2014 Toronto International Short Film Festival. The film was part of a multimedia project that includes the Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker, a comic book series that Magnetic Press released last week.

Separately, DeLonge commissioned a series of YA novels to be written by Suzanne Young and will be made available on the To The Stars… website in June, with a print edition distributed by Simon & Schuster this fall. DeLonge is turning that into a feature script, writing it with Ben Kull. In addition, co-wrote a screenplay for and will produce a feature-length version of Poet Anderson, which the agency will send to studios next week. That’s the start of IP he hatched, with three others in the works that he will participate in in various capacities. Here is the trailer for his Poet Anderson project:
