ABC’s summer lineup features four new series on the schedule — the Mark Burnett game show 500 Questions, original sci-fi series The Whispers, Celebrity Family Feud and the return of BattleBots. They join returning summer shows The Bachelorette, Celebrity Wife Swap, Extreme Weight Loss, Mistresses (with a special two-hour premiere), Rookie Blue and a two-night premiere for Bachelor In Paradise.
BattleBots is a wildcard play here — a male-skewing series for ABC in a summer schedule that has been female-focused. The series returns to air 12 years after it ended its run on Comedy Central and will air six episodes. It will premiere Sunday, June 21 at 9 PM following Celebrity Family Feud.
Another newbie is The Whispers, the ABC Studios sci-fi drama that had been ordered for midseason. Written by Soo Hugh, its plot revolves around someone — or something — manipulating children to commit the unthinkable by playing mysterious games that turn dangerous. Lily Rabe, Barry Sloane and Milo Ventimiglia star, and Amblin TV, Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Dawn Olmstead executive produced.
