Annapurna Pictures has named David Kaminow, most recently president of Worldwide Strategic Marketing and Research at Sony Pictures, as the indie company’s President of Marketing. He will report to Annapurna founder Megan Ellison and oversee all global marketing and publicity. First up on his slate will be Annapurna’s next release: Richard Linklater’s That’s What I’m Talking About, which is in post and will be released this year by Paramount.
As Sony, Kaminow oversaw all worldwide theatrical market research for the studio and help establish a worldwide marketing platform for all divisions of the department. His strategy helped pics there including Spider-Man, James Bond, the Jump Street franchise, American Hustle, Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball, The Social Network and all Sony Pictures Animation titles.
Before Sony, he was SVP Marketing and Research at Miramax Films.
Annapurna also is behind David O. Russell’s Joy with Jennifer Lawrence and is financing and producing the Alexander Payne-directed Downsizing, which will go into production in early 2016 with Matt Damon and Reese Witherspoon, Alec Baldwin, Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Sudeikis.
