Just days after the name of the companion series to AMC’s blockbuster zombie apocalypse was made public, we got a brief look at it tonight. During The Walking Dead Season 5 finale, a short promo for the upcoming Fear The Walking Dead was shown. And as the video above shows, L.A. doesn’t really know what’s about to hit it.
Of note: So far, neither The Walking Dead comic or the hit TV series have delved into just how civilization came to a grinding halt thanks to the zombie plague. If this teaser for Fear The Walking Dead is any indication, we might finally get to understand just what went wrong during the two months Rick Grimes spent comatose (as seen in The Walking Dead pilot).
The Walking Dead has been pulling in absolutely huge ratings, with an amazing 15.7 million viewers tuning in for the season 4 finale, 14.8 million for last fall’s mid-season finale and 15.6 million for the mid-season premier that aired February 9. That’s a great launching pad for the new series and evidence that audiences hungry for zombies are going to make the accountants at AMC extremely happy.
'The Walking Dead's Greg Nicotero Inks New Deal With AMC
Unlike the parent series, Fear The Walking Dead will be shooting in Vancouver. It stars Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam-Carey, as an unconventional family still struggling with regular world problems like drug addiction amid the chaos of an apocalypse. It’s executive produced by Walking Dead-creator Robert Kirkman, Gale Ann Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and Dave Erickson in association with AMC studios, Circle of Confusion, and Valhalla Entertainment.
Fear The Walking Dead premiers this summer on AMC.
