Deadbeat star Tyler Labine has landed a lead role in CBS’ untitled comedy pilot from former Modern Family executive producer Dan O’Shannon and writer Peter Warren (Happyland). It revolves around a group of friends and family at three different times in their lives. Labine will play Chris, who always has a plan and goes with his gut. Though awkward when he was a kid, by the time he’s 25, he’s fit and confident, but still “utterly Chris.” By the time he’s 40, he’s pudgier, balding, and a father, with a baby strapped to his chest. Labine plays the role at both ages.
Labine also just booked a feature role opposite Kristen Bell in Ben Falcone & Melissa McCarthy’s Michelle Darnell. He plays Mike, Claire’s (Bell) boyfriend, who teams up with Claire and Michelle (McCarthy) to help them save their brownie business. Labine’s Hulu series Deadbeat returns for its second season on April 20. He is repped by CAA, PYE, The Characters Agency and attorney Jamie Mandelbaum.
