True Entertainment co-founders Steven Weinstock and Glenda Hersh have been named co-presidents and co-CEOs of that company along with Original Media. The NYC-based Endemol Shine North America subsidiary production companies will continue to operate as separate entities, retaining their development and production teams, as well as their own brands.
Weinstock and Hersh, whose True Entertainment was acquired by Endemol in 2003, have developed such unscripted fare as The Real Housewives Of Atlanta, Season 25: Oprah Behind The Scenes for OWN and Vanity Fair Confidential. They now add oversight of Original Media, which was launched in 2002 and acquired by Endemol in 2007. Original Media, which is behind such series as Swamp People and Ink Master, was founded by Charlie Corwin, who is co-CEO and co-chairman of Endemol Shine North America along with Cris Abrego.
“Our company has always been one to invest in and promote strong talent from within, a philosophy both of us have benefited from,” said Corwin and Abrego, who also sold his company 51 Minds to Endemol. “Glenda and Steven have successfully built True Entertainment into one of the most respected production companies in our industry and they are perfectly suited to add oversight of Original Media’s talented development and production teams and roster of hit series.”
Said Hersh and Weinstock: “We are excited to work with the talented team at Original whose long-standing, successful shows compellingly highlight unique worlds, characters and subcultures. True’s productions and its creative team also have had tremendous success, and we are honored to be overseeing two distinct, prolific and independent shops as each continues to produce bigger and better programming.”
