Modern Family co-creator and executive producer Steven Levitan will be a keynote speaker at Mip-TV next month in Cannes. The speech will be followed by a Comedy Masterclass with Amazon Head of Comedy Joe Lewis; Jill Offman, MD of Comedy Central UK, and SVP Comedy at Viacom International Media Networks; and Ash Atalla, MD & Executive Producer of Roughcut Television (The Office). The two comedy sessions are part of Drama at Mip-TV, a two-day track split into showcases from producers and broadcasters, offstage events and matchmaking sessions as well as international screenings. Levitan’s other credits include Frasier, The Larry Sanders Show, Wings, Just Shoot Me and Greg The Bunny. For his address on April 13, he’ll focus on the success of Modern Family, how the show has managed to continue being so successful both stateside and worldwide for so many years and how it is now traveling as a scripted format.

Marion Cotillard and partner Guillaume Canet will lend their voices to the French dub for Universal and Illumination’s upcoming Minions. Cotillard, French media reports, will be the voice of Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock in the original), and Canet will play her husband Herb Overkill (Jon Hamm in English). The Despicable Me spinoff releases in France on July 8.
Getting into the Nordic noir business, ITV Encore has acquired mystery thriller series Jordskott. The 10-part drama is produced by Palladium Fiction and premiered on Sweden’s SVT in February with a 110% increase on the time-slot average. Set deep in the ancient forests of Sweden, the series picks up seven years after the disappearance of police investigator Eva Thörnblad’s daughter. Even though the girl was said to have drowned, Eva knows in her heart that someone took her child on that fateful day by the lake. So when a young boy goes missing in the same forest of Silverhöjd, Eva returns to delve into the dark mystery that haunts her. As she is drawn into the investigation, she learns that that there is a much deeper and darker force in operation — but how far is she willing to go to protect the one she loves? (Check out the trailer above.). ITV Encore is the group’s recently launched pay channel that focuses on drama.
Endemol Shine Group is launching Endemol Shine Iberia, a new regional creative and production hub. Endemol Shine Iberia incorporates all group companies in Spain and Portugal, including Shine Iberia, Zeppelin, Gestmusic, Diagonal TV and Endemol Portugal. Endemol Spain Managing Director Pilar Blasco has been appointed as Managing Director of the new division. In addition, Endemol Spain’s Javier Garcia has taken the role of CFO and COO, and Jordi Bosch will be Chairman of the new hub. Macarena Rey will continue as CEO of Shine Iberia. The combined companies under the new umbrella have credits that include local versions of Big Brother, MasterChef, Anything Goes, The Voice and The Money Drop. Your Face Sounds Familiar also originated from the group.
