Following their collaboration on the comedy variety series The Birthday Boys, IFC is reteaming with Ben Stiller’s Red Hour on a new project — comedy Start Making Sense (working title), from creator and writer Jake Fogelnest (Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp, Billy On The Street). The network has ordered multiple scripts from the project, now in development, which is being produced by Legendary Television and executive produced by Stiller, Debbie Liebling, Stuart Cornfeld, and Mike Rosenstein through Red Hour.
The show, which stems from Red Hour’s TV/digital production deal with Legendary, is in contention for the network’s 2016 lineup.
Start Making Sense follows Jack, who is desperately clinging to his fading relevancy as a best-selling author, and his son, Shane, basking in popularity by expressing his teenage angst in 140 characters or less. As these generational voices collide they must navigate new waters of texts, trust and rock and roll.
“Jake is an incredible storyteller who has created a cast of characters who explore the comedic side of the modern generational divide,” said IFC SVP Original Programming Christine Lubrano. “We look forward to these scripts taking many slightly off turns into the depths of family dysfunction.”
Fogelnest is repped by WME, Generate and attorney Lev Ginsburg.
