EXCLUSIVE: Looking to ramp up his output as producer of TV series and feature films, The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki has hired Andrew Haas to be vice president and his producing partner at Galecki’s Warner Bros-based Alcide Bava Productions. The label is currently producing the Bobby Miller-directed The Master Cleanse, which stars Galecki, Anna Friel, Angelica Houston and Oliver Platt.
Haas has a strong background in comedy. He was president of De Line Pictures, and executive producer on such films as I Love You Man, Observe And Report, Yogi Bear, Without A Paddle and Green Lantern. He previously worked as an exec at Paramount where he helped bring in The Fighter. Galecki understands he’ll be expected to germinate sitcoms under his deal, but he grew up in theater and wants to broaden his territory.
“I’ve had the ambition to produce for over 10 years, and have always been excited by the challenge of being part of nurturing and cultivating a seminal creative idea with artists I admire,” said Galecki, who caught the producing bug while shepherding the pilot No Place Like Home for Warner Bros TV. “Andrew and I found we have the same interests and level of hunger for that.”
They are just opening their doors on the Warner Bros lot and will start developing projects immediately. Galecki’s repped by WME and Management 360.
