Showtime has dropped the first full trailer for its new half-hour comedy Happyish ahead of its April 26 premiere. Steve Coogan stars as Thom Payne, a 44-year-old whose world is thrown into disarray when his 25-year-old wunderkind boss arrives, saying things like “digital,” “social” and “viral.” Is he in need of a “rebranding,” or does he just have a “low joy ceiling?”
Check out the trailer above in which we see the troubled Payne mulling the idea of happiness with headhunter Dani Kirschenbloom (Ellen Barkin). We also see a humorous conversation with his wife (Kathryn Hahn) in bed in which he despairs how his need to take Prozac is destroying his ability to…well …you know. (“It’s not you honey, it’s the Prozac”.). Bradley Whitford also stars, along with Carrie Preston, Molly Price and Andre Royo.

The Happyish pilot had to be redone after the death of original star Philip Seymour Hoffman. The 10-episode series is created, written and executive produced by Shalom Auslander. Ken Kwapis (He’s Just Not That Into You, A Walk In The Woods) executive produces and directed the pilot. Kwapis’ producing partner Alexandra Beattie co-executive produces under their In Cahoots banner.
