Frank Langella has been set to star in Youth In Oregon, to based on a true story about a cantankerous old man being driven by his son-in-law cross-country to Oregon with the intention of being euthanized in the state where physician-assisted suicide is legal. Joel David Moore revised Andrew Eisen’s script based on a true story and will direct after becoming attached last year.
Joey Carey, Stefan Nowicki, and Morgan White are producing via Sundial Pictures, the outfit behind the 2014 Sundance comedy Obvious Child, the Jenny Slate starrer that also had a comedic take on a serious topic: abortion. Production is eyeing a June start with update New York playing the role of the Pacific Northwest state. It will be the third feature helming gig for Moore, the Avatar actor who also directed 2007’s psychological thriller Spiral and the upcoming dark comedy Killing Winston Jones starring Richard Dreyfus and Danny Glover.
The Oscar-nominated Langella is as busy as ever, with three pics in works for 2015: 5 To 7 opposite Anton Yelchin and Glenn Close, Driftless Area starring Zooey Deschanel, and Captain Fantastic with Viggo Mortensen. On the TV side, he is guest starring on FX’s The Americans.
