EXCLUSIVE: Busy up-and-comer Beau Knapp has joined Ang Lee’s supporting cast in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. Knapp can be seen with Liam Neeson in this weekend’s opener Run All Night. In Billy Lynn, Knapp will play Crack (as in Cracker?), a cocksure good ol’ Alabama boy with violent tendencies. Lee’s film of Simon Beaufoy’s adaptation of Ben Fountain’s novel revolves around the title character’s survival of a harrowing Iraq battle that was captured by news cameras. The 19-year-old private Lynn and his buddies are subsequently brought home by the U.S. administration and paraded for a promotional victory lap leading up to the halftime show of a Thanksgiving Day football game that precedes the troops’ return to the front. Newcomer Joe Alwyn has the title role in the TriStar Pictures project.
In addition to Run All Night director Jaume Collet-Serra, Knapp has worked with JJ Abrams, Ryuhei Kitamura, Antoine Fuqua, Craig Gillespie, Shane Black and Joel Edgerton. Upcoming movies include Southpaw, Nice Guys, Finest Hours, Weirdo, Vincent & Roxy, Juveniles and What Lola Wants. He’s repped by CAA and Luber-Rocklin. Knapp’s other castmates in Billy Lynn include Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin.
