NBC has set the first batch of summer premiere dates, which include new Charles Manson drama Aquarius starring David Duchovny, and Season 3 of Hannibal. Aquarius is slated to premiere with a two-hour opener on May 28 at 9 PM. It will air regularly on Thursdays at 9 PM beginning June 4, taking over the slot currently held by The Blacklist. The series explores the cat-and-mouse game between Manson and the police in those turbulent years leading up to the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders. Season 3 of the Mads Mikkelsen-starrer Hannibal will follow at 10 PM beginning June 4. This marks the cult drama’s return to the Thursday 10 PM slot where it started its run before being moved to Fridays in Season 2.
NBC’s summer season kicks with a two-hour American Ninja Warrior on Memorial Day, May 25 at 8 PM. The series delivered a 2.0/6 share in adults 18-49 and 5.9 million viewers overall last summer and was up versus the prior summer by +11% in 18-49 rating and up +7% in total viewers. Staple America’s Got Talent returns Tuesday, May 26 at 8 PM. This is the top-rated summer series’ 10th season, with Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel returning as judges and Nick Cannon back as host. As usual, AGT will expand to Wednesdays for a two-night run later in the summer.
