Animated Soccer Pic ‘Underdogs’ Gets August 14 Berth From TWC

EXCLUSIVE: The Weinstein Company is moving its soccer-centric animated film Underdogs from April 10 to August 14. The film, directed by Juan Jose Campanella and featuring the voices of Ariana Grande, John Leguizamo, Bobby Moynihan and Bella Thorne, is about a shy kid (Matthew Morrison) who’s a foosball wizard and beats the town bully (Nicholas Hoult) in a foosball game. When that bully becomes the world’s best soccer player and returns to crush the village for a new sports stadium, the foosball player sees the table come to life and with his new team challenges the thug to a winner-take-all soccer battle.

TWC will use the extra time to stoke grassroots interest with SYSO soccer and will create a tie in with a major pro soccer team.
