There may be no changes among the co-hosts after all but behind the camera on The View, it’s a different story. Just over 6 months after being named co-executive producer of the revamped daytime talker, Brian Balthazar is out the door of the unsteady show.
A former exec and producer at HGTV overseeing shows like House Hunters, Balthazar is now returning the Scripps Networks Interactive owned cabler to be their VP, Programming and Development. The decision to move on was a difficult one, however the opportunity to develop long form lifestyle programming is something I have always had a passion for,” said Balthazar today. “I look forward to once again working with the talented team at HGTV.”
The exiting of the producer comes as the transition road for The View appears even rockier than before with rumors of co-host Rosie Perez leaving and CBS’s The Talk beating the Barbara Walters created show for the first time in total weekly viewership. No word on who or if Balthazar will be replaced at The View, which ABC News took over direct control of last October.
We might see Balthazar on-air on HGTV though. At HGTV, the exec fronted the 2012 special I Bought A Famous House. A former stand up comic, Balthazar has appeared on camera as well on the likes on NBC, CNBC, The Wendy Williams Show and The Dr. Oz Show over the past decade. Balthazar also launched the free wheeling fourth hour of The Today Show with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford back in 2007 before heading over to HGTV in 2008.
