EXCLUSIVE: The Seventh Fire follows Rob Brown, a gang leader on a remote Ojibwe reservation in Minnesota, as he heads to jail for a fifth time and has to confront his role in the violence and drug problems that dog his Native American community. Meanwhile, his 17-year-old protégé, Kevin, dreams of one day becoming the reservation’s most powerful gang member.
The 78-minute docu was directed by Jack Pettibone Riccobono and produced by Shane Omar Slattery-Quintanilla but also has famous friends backing the project. The film is presented by Terrence Malick, and the executive producers are Natalie Portman and Chris Eyre.
It debuts this weekend at the Berlin International Film Festival.
