FilmNation Sets Raft Of Offshore Output Deals For Open Road – Berlin

Glen Basner’s FilmNation Entertainment has sealed a batch of multi-year output deals with international distributors to cover titles that Open Road produces or acquires for the world. This follows the November hook-up of the companies for FilmNation to sell and service all Open Road productions and international acquisitions. Today’s move guarantees distribution in more than 15 territories including the UK, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Spain, Canada, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Latin America, the Middle East, Greece, Turkey, India, South Africa and Iceland. Across those markets, the distributors include eOne, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, Telepool, Village Roadshow, LEV Films and Ster Kinekor. Still further deals are in the works and expected to close during the EFM here in Berlin.

The first title to release under the outputs is action thriller Sleepless Night, starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan, which is also Open Road’s first in-house production. The company expects to finance and produce 3-4 pictures a year and will continue to acquire films for U.S. distribution.
