TBS has made it official, confirming that it has opted not to renew multi-camera comedy series Ground Floor for a third season. The decision formally frees up the romantic comedy’s cast, including stars Skylar Astin and Briga Heelan. Astin already had been fielding a slew of broadcast pilot offers and is in final negotiations to star in ABC’s NBA comedy.
TBS is going for a clean slate, canceling all of its returning original comedies over the past several months, including Men at Work, Sullivan & Son, Ground Floor as well as transplant Cougar Town. Coming up are new half-hour series Buzzy’s, Angie Tribeca and Your Family Or Mine.
In the recent executive restructuring of the Turner networks, the company said that comedy-centered TBS will be getting a brand makeover with a focus on “bold sensibility and a network that’s more digital and more socially driven.”
