Australian actress Gillian Alexy has landed the female lead in WGN America’s drama series Outsiders, a tale of struggle for power and control in the hills of Appalachia. From playwright Peter Mattei, producers Peter Tolan and Paul Giamatti, Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios, Outsiders tells the story of the Farrell clan, a family of outsiders who’ve been in these parts since before anyone can remember. Living off the grid and above the law on their mountaintop homestead, they’ll protect their world and defend their way of life using any means necessary. Alexy, repped by Gersh and Industry Entertainment, will play G’Winn Farrell. With a toughness that comes from living off the land in the mountains for all of her life, G’Winn is a survivor and unexpected, piercing beauty. As Asa’s friend and confidante, she will push him to take a position of power among their people. Alexy recently recurred on The Americans and Royal Pains.
Simon Merrells (The Tomorrow People, The Wolfman) has booked an eight-episode arc on Syfy drama Dominion, from Universal Cable Prods. and Bond Films. In this transformed postapocalyptic future, an army of lower angels, assembled by the archangel Gabriel, has waged a war of possession against mankind. The archangel Michael, turning against his own kind, has chosen to side with humanity against Gabriel. Merrells, repped by Conway van Gelder Grant and D2 Management, will play Julian, the cunning and powerful leader of New Delphi who will go to any lengths to protect his city.
