Ben Kingsley has joined the cast of Wake opposite Bruce Willis. John Pogue directs the action thriller about a sociopath with no fear (Willis), who returns to his childhood home on a remote island for his brother’s wake. When the island comes under siege, he must save the very family that banished him from his ancestral home years ago. Michael Benaroya, Tobin Armbrust, David Alpert and Chris Cowles are producing. Arclight Films has acquired worldwide rights to Frank And Lola, starring Michael Shannon and Imogen Poots. Writer-director Matthew Ross’s romantic thriller also stars Michael Nyqvist, Justin Long, Rosanna Arquette and Emmanuelle Devos. The film was produced by Parts & Labor, The Supply Company and Lola Pictures. Preferred Content and Killer Films are executive producers. The Doha Film Institute has unveiled its fall grant recipients, with 21 projects from 24 countries – comprising nine narrative feature films, eight feature documentaries and 4 short films – to get funding for development, production or post-production. Eleven of the projects are from the Arab world. For the first time, filmmakers from Italy, Madagascar, Myanmar, Nepal, The Philippines and the U.S. also received grants. …

Double Dutch International has acquired international rights on Daniel Dolphin And The Sea Dragon, a $20 million animated film being directed by Adam Mars, produced by Carmen Forsberg from Silverlight Entertainment and Sean Buckley (Wolfcop) from Buck Productions. Spotlight Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to The Beat Beneath My Feet, which stars Luke Perry and newcomer Nicholas Galitzine. Directed by John Williams and written and produced by Michael Müller (Dummy, City Slackers), the film premieres in Berlin’s Generation 14plus sidebar. Fiona Gillies and Raj Sharma from Scoop Films also serve as producers.
