You can keeping on being one of the many who are calling Saul, but there’s another new Vince Gilligan series coming to TV on Sunday night with the debut of Battle Creek on CBS. As my video review above says, the crime drama starring Dean Winters and Josh Duhamel as a mismatched local cop and an FBI agent who are truly as different as night and day is an engaging, witty and sometimes idiosyncratic addition to the network’s schedule.
Based on a more than decade-old pitch from the Breaking Bad creator and Better Call Saul co-creator, the Battle Creek pilot was written by Gilligan and House creator David Shore, who serves as the series’ showrunner. X-Men: Days Of Future Past director Bryan Singer helmed the first show. The series co-stars The White Queen’s Janet McTeer and Harold And Kumar star and ex-White House aide Kal Penn, who was also on House. Yep – a lot of creative juice. CBS picked up Battle Creek for a 13-epsiode commitment back in September 2013. Easy to see why.
Wade into my review. Are you going to Battle Creek?
