Those venturing into film festivals’ midnight sidebars have to be prepared for anything. At the Sundance Film Festival, that means the “retro-futuristic” Turbo Kid, which premieres tonight at the Egyptian. Anouk Whissell, François Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissell wrote and directed the pic, which from the teaser looks like Waterworld without the water and BMX bikes instead of boats and more importantly sci-fi icon Michael Ironside as the bad guy.
Here’s the first look at what Sundancers will see tonight: a blood-splattered love story of an orphaned hero and his new best friend fighting evil in post-apocalyptic 1997. Check it out.
