The new year brought series lows for all series that dared to air originals on the first night of 2015.
NBC’s The Biggest Loser, whose fate is unclear after its current 16th cycle, drew a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49, matching the series low for its most recent telecast on December 18. The veteran reality series still led the pack of originals, tying overall for third place on the night. Cancelled NBC comedies Bad Judge (0.9) and A To Z (0.4) fell hard from their last originals, by -55% and -50%, respectively. Both comedies, which are close to wrapping their 13-episode runs, hit fresh series lows.
The only other original last night was ABC’ The Taste, which posted a series low 0.7, down a tenth from its previous low logged in the cooking competition’s most recent original. Its future beyond this cycle also is up in the air.
CBS easily won the night with its all-repeat lineup paced by The Big Bang Theory (1.7), the top program of the night. The network boasted the top 3 shows on Thursday with reruns of Big Bang, Mom (1.2) and Two And A Half Men (0.9, tied with Biggest Loser). OK retention for struggling newbie The McCarthys (0.7, 78%) at 9:30 PM.
