At the top of the CNBC TCA session, the network’s VP primetime alternative Jim Ackerman announced that the network’s flagship unscripted series, The Profit, has been renewed for a third season to premiere in the spring. Additionally, the network has greenlit docu-series Restaurant Confidential New York (working title) and Blue Collar Millionaires.
Profit, from Machete Prods., follows serial entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis who saves struggling businesses while investing his own cash in the process.
Restaurant Confidential: New York, from All3Media, was part of CNBC’s 2014 development slate. It chronicles the struggles and triumphs of various restaurants in the ultra-competitive New York Food Scene. In the final minutes of each episode, a real register tallies and hard facts that expose the truth of each business’ health. Eli Holzman, Stephen Lambert, Domini Hoffman and Aaron Saidman executive produce.
Blue Collar Millionaires is about people “have made their money getting their hands dirty.” Per the network’s promotional materials, which list a May 6 premiere date listed for the series, “No college degrees or silver spoons, their fortunes were built on blood, sweat and grease.”
