We all know about Jack Black the actor, but he’s also wearing the producer hat at Sundance this year with The D Train, formerly called D-Train.
He stars in the film – which premiered Friday and sold to IFC today – as a guy organizing a high school reunion in hopes of shedding the loser tag from his teenage years.
Playing producer for the film brought a different set of challenges, Black said.
“As a producer,” he tells me, “when you’re doing an indie film, it’s all just about getting the film made because it’s a miracle if you can.”
We’ll have more DeadlineNow@Sundance2015 video interviews throughout the festival, so stay tuned.
