UPDATE: This deal, which hit mid- to high-six figures I’m told, is in the books. Release below.
EXCLUSIVE: In a fitting climax to one of the most vibrant deal-heavy Sundance Film Festivals in memory, Bleecker Street is wrapping up an acquisition of I’ll See You In My Dreams, the Brett Haley-directed drama that stars Blythe Danner, Martin Starr, Sam Elliott, Malin Akerman, June Squibb and Rhea Perlman. The logline: A sudden loss disrupts Carol’s orderly life, propelling her into the dating world for the first time in 20 years. Finally living in the present tense, she finds herself swept up in two unexpected relationships that challenge her assumptions about what it means to get old. Pic debuted Tuesday at the Eccles Theater in the Premieres section.
This was a hotly contested acquisition, with CBS Films, Samuel Goldwyn and Sony Worldwide Acquisitions Group also chasing. The film was repped by Preferred Content. I’ll tell you more of the final details when I can get them. It should be done before the final Sundance awards ceremony tonight.
NEW YORK, NY – January 30, 2015 – Bleecker Street announced it has acquired Worldwide rights to Brett Haley’s I’LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS. The film had its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday, January 27th where it received a standing ovation for its star, Blythe Danner.

The film was written by Brett Haley and Marc Basch and produced by Rebecca Green and Laura Smith.

Anchoring every scene, Blythe Danner delivers a performance that is so real and so touching from a script that is so funny and empathic, all of us at Bleecker Street can’t wait to bring it to audiences so they can discover what a beautiful story writer/director, Brett Haley, has created.”
Laura Smith and Rebecca Green of Two Flints said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Andrew and the entire team at Bleecker Street, who have such a strong pedigree in distributing independent films.
