Bob and Harvey Weinstein have been named Motion Picture Showmen of the Year by the publicists’ branch of the International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600. The Weinstein Company toppers will be honored during the 52nd Publicists Awards Luncheon on February 20 at the Beverly Hilton.
“The Weinsteins are the very epitome of showmanship,” said Steven Poster, the guild’s national president. “They have impeccable taste and are universally regarded as the industry leaders in awards campaigns.”
The Weinsteins have won five Best Picture Oscars — for The English Patient (1996), Shakespeare In Love (1998), Chicago (2002), The King’s Speech (2010) and The Artist (2011). This year, their The Imitation Game is up for eight Oscars, including Best Picture.
The TV version of this honor, the Television Showmanship Award, has not been announced.
