Disney Channel is banking on the success of its hit series Girl Meets World to cross over onto two new original movies. Girl Meets World stars Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter, along with Mighty Med‘s Paris Berelc have been tapped for starring roles in Invisible Sister and Further Adventures In Babysitting, slated for a fall 2015/early 2016 premiere on Disney Channels worldwide.
Based on the book My Invisible Sister by Beatrice Colin and Sara Pinto, live action/comedy Invisible Sister will star Blanchard as Cleo, a girl whose science project goes terribly wrong, making her popular older sister Molly (Berelc), suddenly invisible. Paul Hoen (Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, How to Build a Better Boy) will direct and Sheri Singer (Halloweentown, Girl Vs. Monster) executive produces. The script was written by Jessica O’Toole & Amy Rardin (Greek, The Carrie Diaries), and Matt Eddy & Billy Eddy (Teen Beach 2, Bad Hair Day).
Carpenter and Sofia Carson (Descendants) will star in Further Adventures In Babysitting,” inspired by the popular 1980s teen pic Adventures In Babysitting. In the reimagined tale, a dull evening for two competing babysitters, Jenny (Carpenter) and Luci (Carson), turns into an adventure in the big city as they hunt for one of the kids who somehow snuck away. John Schultz (Judy Moody And The Not Bummer Summer, Like Mike) will direct from a script by Tiffany Paulsen. Michelle Manning (Teen Beach 2, The Breakfast Club) exec produces.
The movies will be presented to advertisers during the Kids Upfront this year. Both movies are set to begin production this spring during a production hiatus for Girl Meets World and Mighty Med.
