Samuel Goldwyn Films and StyleHaul have acquired North American rights to first-time filmmaker Sacha Jenkins’ Fresh Dressed, the documentary about the importance of fashion in NYC hip-hop culture that premiered last weekend at the Sundance Film Festival. It is a Mass Appeal production in partnership with CNN Films, and the cable news network already plans to air it later this year after a theatrical release.
The companies also said there will be an exclusive transactional window on Vimeo On Demand.
Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Nasir Jones, Dapper Dan, Big Daddy Kane, Riccardo Tisci and André Leon Talley are among the talking heads featured in Fresh Dressed. Peter Bittenbender, Nasir Jones and Marcus A. Clarke produced, and Amy Entelis and Vinnie Malhotra executive produced.
The deal was negotiated by Samuel Goldwyn’s Ian Puente, Josh Braun of Submarine and Malhotra and Stacey Wolf on behalf of CNN Films and Mass Appeal.
