Fox has ordered a third comedy pilot this season and first from sister studio 20th Century Fox TV. The untitled multi-camera project hails from the Friends With Better Lives duo of creator Dana Klein and executive producer Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment.
Written by Klein, it is told from the point of view of a working mom who is in constant competition with her perfect, stay-at-home sister-in-law. The family comedy, which landed at Fox in August with a put pilot commitment, originally was titled The Bad Stanleys and described as being about two competitive brothers – one who peaked early in life and one who is peaking now – and their respective families, told from the point of view of the brother who peaked early. Klein and Kaplan executive produce.
This is the third consecutive collaboration of Friends alumna Klein, Kaplan and 20th TV following Daddy’s Girls and FWBL. All of them have now gone to pilot, with FWBL making it to the air at CBS.
This is the second broadcast pilot order for Kaplan so far this season, joining the single-camera Justin Adler family comedy Life In Pieces, also from 20th TV, which sold to CBS as a spec last week.
