Coming the same day as the Oscar nominations, last night’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards saw wins for Boyhood, Birdman’s Michael Keaton and Still Alice’s Julianne Moore as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award for Kevin Costner. It also saw the 9 PM live broadcast from the Hollywood Palladium draw in 1 million viewers on A&E. Hosted by Michael Strahan, last night’s show was the first time the CCMA had been on A&E, who picked up the rights to the broadcast and its TV Awards counterpart last October.
Over all its airings last night, the 20th Annual CCMA pulled in a total of 1.5 million viewers. Airing on the CW, last year’s live show had 1.96 million viewers, an all-time high for the ceremony. That was steady with the 2013 show, with just a 4% rise in total viewers. Last night, The CW aired the inaugural World Dog Awards, which got 1.92 million viewers.
