American Heroes Channel, formerly Military Channel, has signed on for exclusive North American rights to Surrender, an internationally produced two-part documentary about the final battles of World War II. The network will debut the project this spring to commemorate the 70th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day.
Relying solely on contemporaneous archival material to tell its story, Surrender is produced by Roche Productions and TF1, and distributed by Terranoa. Surrender looks at the final episodes of World War II from the German counter-offensive in the Ardennes in the winter of 1944 to VE Day on May 8, 1945, ending the war in Europe. Using colorized and sound-designed archives remastered in HD.
The network also announced a new one-hour special, hosted by Tom Brokaw, and produced by NBC’s Peacock Productions, The Men Who Changed With World, premiering early this year. The special will feature Brokaw interviews with George H.W. Bush, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Colin Powell, and Bill Gates.
