NBCUniversal has launched Radius, an on-demand video service focused on health and fitness programming, with Under Armour among the launch partners. The subscription service is available online at RadiusFitness.com, through iPhone and iPad apps and as part of an early-morning, three-hour block of weekday programming on the NBCSN channel.
The videos will soon be available on demand through the Xfinity digital-content platform also owned by NBCUniversal parent Comcast, and be available through Xfinity TV Go apps.
The service will cost $10 a month initially, and is designed to accommodate different kinds and levels of workouts appropriate to a user’s physical needs and capabilities. The service can also track a user’s progress.
Radius will feature content from fitness personalities such as Basheerah Ahmad, Nicky Holender, Keoni Hudoba, Alex Isaly and Natalie Uhling. Programming and other partners include sportswear company Under Armour and Dragonfly Productions. NBCU’s LX.TV production unit will also create content focused on nutrition, motivation and fitness gear. Additional partners are expected to be announced soon.
“With fitness at the epicenter of today’s pop culture, now is the perfect time to introduce a new media brand that can capture and drive the explosion of innovation in the fitness space,” said NBCU president of digital Nick Lehman.
