Margaret O’Brien has been appointed to the newly created position of EVP Corporate Development at eOne, responsible for overseeing the company’s M&A activities across the group. O’Brien joined eOne in September 2008 when the company acquired Barna-Alper Productions and is currently President and COO at eOne Television. The exec has built and broadened relationships with creative talent and broadcasters, set up a string of first-look deals and focused on eOne’s factual television unit, where she orchestrated the acquisitions of Paperny Entertainment and Force Four Entertainment. Most recently, O’Brien closed eOne’s deal with interactive agency Secret Location, securing an equity stake in the business and new digital content development opportunities for eOne. In the new job, she will continue to be based in Toronto and work on her existing responsibilities in the transitional period as the company seeks a new head for its TV business in Canada.
