YouTube singing stars Cimorelli have signed a cross-platform production and distribution deal with Entertainment One that will bring the six sisters from Malibu to TV and film projects, the company said.
The sisters’ videos have been viewed more than 700 million times on YouTube, where their channel has nearly 3 million subscribers. They started out in Sacramento, doing YouTube covers of well-known songs while standing by their front door. They also create videos on hair, fashion, makeup and crafts, all areas that are hugely popular with YouTube audiences. They are part of DreamWorks Animation-owned AwesomenessTV‘s multi-channel network and will remain there under this deal.
The sisters will work with Entertainment One on a number of scripted and unscripted projects that are already under development. EOne will produce and distribute globally all projects developed in the deal.
Jesse Albert brokered the deal for eOne, Tony Novia for Cimorelli. Both will serve as executive producers on all projects under the partnership along with Lynne Cimorelli. Albert and eOne’s Jeff Lynas will oversee the relationship for the studio.
The sisters moved to Malibu after signing a record deal with Universal Music Group, which released their album, Renegade, on Oct. 28. They won a Teen Choice Award last year as “Choice Web Star,” and were part of the North American Digifest live tour and a Coca-Cola branded concert event in Spain, among other work with big brands such as DWA, Hasbro and AT&T.
