Darren Aronofsky will be honored by the Motion Picture Sound Editors with its annual Filmmaker Award, to be presented at the MPSE’s 62nd Golden Reel Awards on February 15. The society’s highest honor is presented to “to extraordinary filmmakers who embody the spirit, the vigor and innovation of storytelling.”
“One of the first reasons I was inspired to become a filmmaker,” Aronofsky said, “was the exciting possibilities of experimenting with sound, so it is an incredible feeling to be honored by the MPSE. Sound dreams, sound emotes, and most importantly, sound is what often saves my ass.”
Past recipients include Steven Spielberg, Ang Lee and Brian Grazer.
