True Blood alumna and The Good Wife standout Carrie Preston has joined Showtime comedy pilot Happyish as a recurring. Also tapped for recurring roles in the pilot are Molly Price (Third Watch) and Andre Royo (The Wire). Described as a comedic, soul-searching examination of our pursuit of happiness, Happyish centers on Thom Payne (Steve Coogan) – a 44-year-old man whose world is thrown into disarray when his 25-year-old “wunderkind” boss arrives. Kathryn Hahn and Bradley Whitford co-star.
Preston will play Debbie Dubonte, a Senior Account Director at MGT who could “be the mother” of her two new bosses, and must, like Thom Payne (Coogan), find a way to reinvent herself or lose her job. Preston, repped by Innovative Artists and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management, recently reprised her Emmy-winning guest starring role as Elsbeth Tascioni on The Good Wife and guest starred on HBO’s comedy series, Getting On. Price, repped by Gersh and Stacy Abrams, and Royo will play husband and wife Barry and Bella. Barry is a former corporate lawyer who followed his heart to the Family Court, only to find it even more depressing than Corporate Law was. Bella is a divorced mother still struggling to find the best place for herself and her child.
