Comedy Central star Amy Schumer will host the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, announcing the job personally through MTV’s many social-media accounts reaching what the company estimated are 210 million followers, and continuing to post for about an hour.
“I am honored to be hosting the awards,” Schumer wrote. “I will carry the audience with me like a teen mom #breaktheinternet #breakmywater.”
The awards will be held April 12 and broadcast live from the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
Schumer – who executive produces, writes and stars in Inside Amy Schumer – also will be starting her third season of the Emmy-nominated show in April. Separately, Schumer is starring in the Universal comedy feature Trainwreck next summer with Bill Hader and Colin Quinn and directed by Judd Apatow. The film debuts in July.
Executive producers of the Movie Awards are Jesse Ignjatovic of Den of Thieves, Lee Lodge and Garrett English.
