In its quest to movie consumers to go digital, Warner Bros snagged former Universal exec Jessica Schell as EVP and General Manager of the studio’s home entertainment division. The Warner Bros Home Entertainment logomove comes as more studios look to transition to a new format, much as they segued from video to DVD. Schell will take global responsibility for all operations related to the sales, marketing, distribution, finance and administrative functions of the Studio’s film-based home entertainment releases, including both new theatrical titles and catalog films. “Jessica has a strong background in new media and digital entertainment, which will be crucial to her new role as our industry focuses on transitioning consumers to digital media usage and ownership,” said Jim Wuthrich, President, Americas, Warner Bros Home Entertainment. “She’s a great addition to our team, and I look forward to working with her.” Schell spent nine years at NBCUniversal, most recently serving as EVP New Media and Digital Entertainment at Universal Pictures. She also has held positions at Disney and at Allen & Company.
