Nickelodeon has ordered two comedy pilots, The Dunes Club and Future Shock (working titles). Both will begin production in January 2015.
Set at a high-end beach club, The Dunes Club centers on the unlikely friendship that forms between a sheltered, privileged boy and a street-smart local girl who takes a job for the summer to earn extra cash. The project was created by Heather Flanders (Undateable, Lab Rats).
Future Shock centers on two brothers who get the shock of their lives when a girl from the future accidentally transports them with their mom to the year 2070. It was created by Mitchel Katlin and Nat Bernstein (See Dad Run).
Despite recently ending its highest-rated series, Sam & Cat, after one season over behind-the-scenes issues, Nickelodeon has been on a streak with its newest live-action series. The network has finished first in the demo among live-action fare for the past two weeks. Most recently, Henry Danger, The Thundermans, The Haunted Hathaways and Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn ranked as the top four rated live-action shows with kids 6-11, respectively, for the week of November 3-9.
