Fox Broadcasting’s president of sales Toby Byrne has been promoted to president of ad sales for Fox Networks Group, in a move to better align the ad sales teams, the company said this morning. He will oversee national ad sales functions and revenue generating strategies for FNG’s domestic entertainment and sports television businesses, including Fox Broadcasting, Fox Sports, and the company’s national cable outlets and their non-linear extensions. In this integration, combining the cable and broadcast network sales organizations, Byrne will continue to report to Randy Freer, President and COO of FNG, and Fox’s cable sales chief Lou LaTorre will report to Byrne.
“Toby is an exceptional leader that has guided our successful effort to combine broadcast and national cable sales for Fox Sports, led the revenue launch of Fox Sports 1, and spearheaded our push for recognition of the C7 metric in the Upfront,” Freer said in today’s news.
Byrne has been with Fox for nearly two decades, joining in early 1996 as an account services representative. He was made an account executive in December of that year, became a VP in 2003, and was promoted to supervising Eastern sales in 2006. He was named president of sales for Fox Broadcasting in 2010. Prior to joining Fox, Byrne was a media buyer at BBDO in New York.
