TLC has ordered a six-part series about people who claim they’ve experienced “divine intervention,” from Jesus whisperers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett. Downey will host the series TLC says explores “the stories of people who claim that they’ve experienced modern-day miracles, incredible twists of fate, and phenomena that logic and science cannot explain.” TLC brags the series “will leave even the most skeptical viewers considering if a divine force was at work.”
TLC is teaming with Downey’s LightWorkers Media, a division of United Artists Media Group (a newly formed joint venture among MGM, Mark Burnett, Roma Downey and Hearst Entertainment); Downey, Burnett and Katy Davis (The Oprah Winfrey Show) are exec producing the project, which is set to debut in late ’15.

TLC — the network of The Little Couple, 19 Kids And Counting, Return To Amish, Sister Wives, Long Island Medium, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, and 90 Day Fiancé — is always on the prowl for “remarkable, heart-warming, and eye-opening stories,” GM Nancy Daniels said today. Downey called this project “a series that will inspire and encourage viewers to remember that even in the worst circumstances prayer can lead to divine intervention.”
Downey and Burnett are the entertainment industry’s It Couple for religious programming since their huge ratings success with the miniseries The Bible. In April, they joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Paramount Pictures’ Ben-Hur.
In December, they landed CBS‘ first announced project from its new limited series and event programming unit — The Dovekeepers, an historical series with religious overtones. The Dovekeepers is a four-hour miniseries based on Alice Hoffman’s historical novel about the Siege of Masada, and it will air on CBS in 2015
That same month, NBC gave a formal green light to Burnett and Downey’s 12-hour miniseries A.D.,– a follow-up to their highly rated miniseries The Bible that aired on History. The project, produced by LightWorkers Media with Burnett, Downey and Richard Bedser serving as executive producers, is eyeing a premiere in spring 2015.
