Lakeshore Entertainment has acquired international rights to the romantic action comedy Mr Right, which stars Sam Rockwell, Anna Kendrick, Tim Roth, James Ransone, Anson Mount, Michael Eklund and RZA. Shooting is underway in New Orleans on the pic, which will be selling at the upcoming American Film Market via Sierra/Affinity on behalf of Lakeshore. It centers on Martha (Kendrick), who is unlucky in love who finally finds her Mr. Right (Rockwell) only to discover he’s a reformed hitman. When his dark past catches up with him, the two of them have to team up to save each other. CAA and producer Amasia Entertainment will rep the film’s domestic sale.
AFM organizers said today that 415 films will screen at the market including 91 world premieres for the event, which runs November 5-12 in Santa Monica. Among the new pics in play: the Michelle Williams and Kristin Scott Thomas starrer Suite Francaise, which the Weinstein Co originally teased at Cannes this year; the Helen Hunt-directed Ride; and How To Make Love Like An Englishman, starring Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba. Fortitude International has picked up international sales rights to Urge, a thriller starring Brosnan and Ashley Greene. Aaron Kaufman, whose producer credits include Machete and Chef, is making his directorial debut. The pic follows a group of friends who escape on an island destination weekend and find themselves unable to resist trying a new designer drug, which has one major side effect: it makes people lose the ability to control their urges. Fortitude AFM slate also includes the thriller Daughter Of God and the David Foster Wallace biopic The End Of The Tour.
