Into The Storm and Hatfields & McCoys actor Max Deacon has been cast in The Call Up, a British action/sci-fi pic set in the world of computer gaming technology. Written and directed by commercials helmer Charles Barker, The Call Up topped the 2011 Brit List of the best unproduced screenplays in the UK. The story follows a group of elite online gamers who each receive a mysterious invitation to trial a state-of-the-art virtual reality video game. The experience brings modern warfare to life with frightening realism, but what starts out like a dream encounter, quickly takes a turn for the sinister. EOne has Germany, France and Scandinavian rights with Altitude Film Sales handling international. Morfydd Clark (Madame Bovary), Ali Cook (The Anomaly), Parker Sawyers (Monsters: Dark Continent), Tom Benedict Knight (Dracula Untold), Boris Ler (In The Land Of Blood And Honey), and newcomers Douggie McMeekin and Adriana Randall also star. Shooting begins November 10 in Birmingham, England. Producers are Matthew James Wilkinson for Stigma Films and John Giwa-Amu for Red & Black Films with The Machine’s Alan Martin exec producing.

The Exchange will sell international rights to Michael, the true-life story of gay activist-turned-pastor Michael Glatze starring James Franco and executive produced by Gus Van Sant. Franco stars alongside Emma Roberts and Zachary Quinto and also produces with Vince Jolivette and their Rabbit Bandini Productions alongside Michael Mendelsohn from Patriot Pictures. Justin Kelley is directing and Van Sant executive produces with Lauren Selig from Shake and Bake Productions. CAA has domestic sales rights.
K5 International has boarded sales on When I Live My Life Over Again, the New York-set drama starring Christopher Walken, Amber Heard and Oliver Platt. Currently in post-production, the film is written and directed by Robert Edwards and co-stars Kelli Garner, Ann Magnuson, and Hamish Linklater. Walken plays a famous crooner plotting his big comeback. Heard is his feisty, put-upon daughter. Parts & Labor’s Lars Knudsen and Jay Van Hoy are producers with Chris Maybach, Saemi and Saerom Kim at Maybach Film Productions, and Ferne Pearlstein and Lucas Joaquin. K5’s Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur are exec producing with Eugene Lee at Zip Cinema and Tae-hun Lee at Opus Pictures.
