EXCLUSIVE: Actor Matt Letscher (Scandal, Boardwalk Empire, Her) along with his brothers Brian Letscher (Tom, the secret service agent on Scandal) and Aaron Letscher are collaborating on One and Done, a comedy basketball web series about four fortysomething friends who decide to reform their high school basketball team, despite their varying points of physical and mental deterioration.
Written by Matt Letscher, Nipper Knapp and Andrew Newberg, One and Done is launching a Kickstarter campaign today with a goal of raising $40K. Funds will go toward the production of six episodes past their pilot. Production would begin in January 2015. Matt Letscher will also direct and star. Aaron Letscher produced the pilot. One and Done details the journey of Matthew, Mark, Luke (Brian Letscher), and Juan, (aka “The Gospel”) former teammates at a Catholic high school, who choose to enter a highly competitive 3 on 3 basketball tournament, while giving themselves a scant two months to train. Several obstacles stand in their way, not the least of which is getting Matthew’s brother Luke, the best athlete of the bunch, back on board. However, the team eventually perseveres over their own differences, an unfortunately mislabeled supplement, and a rematch with their old Jewish high school rivals to make it to the tournament without killing themselves. All of the major players are University of Michigan grads, where they all met, from the Letscher brothers to co-writers Knapp and Newberg to producer Troy Hollar (Grace of a Stranger) and much of the story is drawn from their experiences playing in 3 on 3 tournaments in the Midwest. One and Done stars Marin Hinkle, (Two and A Half Men) as Matt’s understanding, but riled, wife Jessica, and Michael Gladis (Mad Men) as Dr. Harris, a psychotic dermatologist. Some of the crowdfunding perks include onscreen cameos, a 3 on 3 game with ‘The Gospel’ team, a photoshoot, as well as signed props, headshots, and meets and greets with the cast.
