EXCLUSIVE: If today’s traffic mess courtesy of Vice-President Joe Biden frustrated you, stay away from the Westside of LA on October 20. That’s when Hillary Clinton will be in town for a fundraiser of her own co-hosted by Jeffrey Katzenberg. The ex-First Lady may not have Executive Mansion security measures but the Secret Service will be out in force anyway. The location of the 5:30 PM event for Congressional candidates will be Tavern, I’ve learned. The very popular venue from chef Suzanne Goin and sommelier Caroline Styne will see the former Secretary of State headlining the top price $32,400 a ticket fundraiser as part of her first big push for the midterms. A push that certainly positions Clinton in a good place for that widely expected 2016 run with big Tinseltown donors like Katzenberg and co-host Casey Wasserman.
Of course this isn’t the first time Tavern has hosted a Presidential level Hollywood cash register event since it opened in 2009 on San Vicente. Back in 2011, Barack Obama was the marquee name in a reelection fundraiser for himself, also with big bundler Katzenberg in attendance. Speaking of POTUS, he will of course be here in LA himself on Thursday for a DNC fundraiser at Gwyneth Paltrow’s place and for a smaller event on Friday morning. With the midterms in the last weeks, don’t be surprised if another Democratic Party superstar shows up looking for more Hollywood cash before November 4.
DreamWorks Animation CEO Katzenberg’s political advisor Andy Spahn is putting the Hillary October 20 fundraiser together.
